“Before PowerStrength I was working out sporadically. I was doing some cardio, minimal weight training, and occasional yoga, but nothing consistent. I was in pain quite frequently with plantar fasciitis, hip pain, and back pain from sitting at an office desk and through meetings. I wasn’t getting the physical activity in my life the I needed. I came to PowerStrength looking for someone to motivate me, and hold me accountable.
My experience at PowerStrength has been so positive! I feel very encouraged, pushed harder than I would push myself, but never past my limits. “Thank you for all the encouragement you and your team have provided during my family’s time with PSTS. It’s been an amazing experience and I’m so glad my son encouraged me to start. Carson has been doing Little Beast and Speed and Agility training since March of this year. He absolutely loves the physical challenge the coaches puts into each program while making it fun at the same time. Seeing his excitement every week, I decided to start thinking about my own health and well-being (which has been idle for quite some time). It didn’t take long for me to realize that I should be doing something better for myself and so… my journey at PSTS began.
The training and development is going great thus far. My evening classes take place the same time as my son’s training and so our time at the gym is something we share together. Carson keeps a pretty good eye on me through my sessions and he’ll come up to me during one of his water breaks with a high-five after I’ve finished a series of sled pulls or even a “You can do it Mom,” when I’m working through some upper body strength training. He is truly my inspiration and motivator through this process! The PSTS team is extremely encouraging and supportive as well. It didn’t take me long to realize that they not only strengthen us physically, but also mentally. As the trainings continue to get harder, somedays I find myself in a state of “mind over matter” just to get through the exercises. “I am 59 (soon to be 60 in February) and work full time as a business attorney. I travel some and my schedule is erratic. I joined PSTS in August with my wife, and we try to make at least one Thrive Small Group class and 2-3 Blue Collar Large Group classes a week. I am also an avid tennis player and very amateur golfer.
A few weeks ago I visited my general practitioner for follow-up bloodwork review. To his and my pleasant surprise, ALL of my numbers (including blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol) as well as my vitamin and mineral levels, were ALL improved over my May physical.
I attribute this to my wife Lori who keeps me very much in line on the nutrition front, but also to the training I have been doing at PSTS the last two months.

“My goal was to lose 24 pounds in 2017. In my mind, I had 12 months to accomplish my goal so I broke my goal down into 2 pounds per month. Now my goal was manageable, but what happen next I could have never imagined. In January, I lost 12 pounds, February came and I lost 9 pounds, and month after month I saw weight coming off and muscle being built. As of today, I am 47 total pounds down from where I started on January 1, 2017. What was amazing to me was that the changes were simple, but the results were profound. “My whole life I have been an active person up until becoming a mother in December of 2012. It was then when I starting putting my health and body second. I had tried several chain gyms with no results. It was hard to stay motivated to keep going. My diet consisted of anything quick and easy and I found myself gaining weight. In October of 2016 I was introduced to PowerStrength’s JumpStart Program. It was then I decided I could do anything for a few weeks, so I signed up. For three weeks I found myself surrounded by the most helpful trainers and the workout groups were beyond supportive. I started at PowerStrength nearly 2 years ago on a trial package. As a older mom who has 2 girls who worked out at PowerStrength during their college soccer careers, I had it in my head that there was no way I could do this. Boy was I wrong!!!! From day one there was no way I was going to fail between the other people in the class and their constant motivation, or the trainers with their always positive attitudes and constant help with technique and reminders of how to keep going strong. All I can say is it is hard work but the feeling you get when you finish a constant changing workout is amazing! I can honestly say this is one of my HAPPY places! “A few months ago I was at a point in my life where I wasn’t feeling good. Not enough physical energy to do anything after work and mentally drained as well. I started training at Power Strength shortly after my 30th birthday with the adult group. I am not very athletic and have no coordination so I was a bit apprehensive. My worries were erased instantly. The trainers are top notch. They are able to assist any skill level and do a great job at keeping things positive and motivating. I started at PSTS the week of my golden birthday. Before that I was feeling like I was on the wrong side of 25 and that my metabolism was decreasing quickly, I knew I wanted to get myself more active. I am a coach’s daughter and have gone through multiple different time periods of heavy training… So I “know” how to do it. However and all of a sudden, I found myself struggling to maintain and really just feel good let alone strong. I joined a “traditional” gym. BORING. Plus there was no one keeping me accountable. I was an athlete in college and after graduating pretty much stopped all forms of exercise. I started running a few years back but wanted to get back in to lifting. It had been so long since I had used weights and the thought of going to a gym terrified me. I wanted a gym that offered instruction on proper form. That’s what I got at PowerStrength. The trainers do a great job at correcting your form if you’re not doing something right. The amount of attention they give to each person gives the feel of having a personal trainer. “I came to PSTS for a switch up in my workout routine. The switch was great. The atmosphere is great, the trainers and people are great, the workout routine is new, fun, and gets great results.
You go to other gyms and you do a little of this and that by yourself with no real goal in mind. You come to PSTS and your working with a team of educated trainers and other serious individuals with the same goal in mind. Everyone in here is working for something. I walked out of PSTS with much more strength and endurance. I can see a lot of results. I would recommend PSTS to anyone.
I was a high school, collegiate, and semi-pro athlete. If I found out about PSTS when I was that age, I would have been here all of the time. The stuff they work on- explosiveness, agility… they not only help you to get stronger, but also increase your overall athleticism to become a better athlete. It would be extremely beneficial to any young athlete looking to get better at their craft.
I know a lot of guys my age benefited from working out here. As we get older, workouts get easier and we get softer. When you come to PSTS, they control the tempo and push you hard. “I was a little intimidated to start PSTS because of all the large athletes training there, but once I got accustomed to things, I was starting to feel better about myself. PSTS is more close knit than other facilities, it is a one-on-one type training setting but still within the group, and you really get to know all of the trainers and other members well. “I’ve worked out at almost every gym out there: Lifetime, LA fitness, 24/7, Snap Fitness, boutique gyms, etc. Nothing compares to PSTS. As a former high school (and 1 year of college) athlete, I still strive to stay healthy. You can stay healthy at the other gyms, but what separates PSTS from the others is you will not only stay healthy and get your body feeling the best it has in years, you will make GAINS. You will get stronger, gain muscle, and shed body fat.
When you no longer have a sport to train for, this can be very challenging. Not at PSTS. From the moment you step foot in there, you notice a difference. The atmosphere provides motivation. An intense, blue-collar feel. An opportunity to forget whatever was going on in the day- and just bust ass with some like-minded people, make progress, and not waste your time in the gym.
A gym with a good atmosphere and the right equipment is only as good as those working it. Hands down PSTS has the best coaches/trainers I’ve ever trained with. Mark Ehnis and his staff will push you. These guys are highly trained, extremely knowledgeable, and will ensure you focus on form before weight. If you’re not pushing yourself, they will notice and they will push you. Their goal is the same for everyone, regardless of age or reason for training: they want you to make gains. They want you to improve. They want you to be physically and mentally strong.
I now live in Arizona but make a point to workout at PSTS every time I’m home. I only wish Mark would open up a PSTS in Scottsdale and train a staff as competent as his current coaches, because my gyms out here do not compare!” – Joe C.
“Last fall I trained there with the Blue Collar Crew 3 nights per week and I could not believe the results. I got in the best shape I have been in since my days of college basketball. The training was challenging for not only young athletic guys like me, but also easily adjustable for the guys who were older and more limited. I loved the coaching of Mark and the team to never take shortcuts- and the motivation they provide to get me through the tough workouts.
The environment created in this place is also fantastic. It’s a great combination of athletic/health improvement and locker room friendship. In a time where “Fad” workouts and trademarked training styles are taking over the fitness world, these guys have found the best way to get results with anyone at any level. “6 weeks ago I had a goal in mind; to be the strongest I’ve ever been by my 28th birthday. In high school I was pretty fit. I was 175lbs and could max bench 235. I could max squat 285lbs. I could deadlift about the same as my squat from what I remember…10 years was a long time ago:) Anyways, I weighed in last night at 199lbs (+14lbs in three months). I benched 245×2 and needed a ‘tap’ to get me past 90 degrees at 255 after a couple prior sets. I squatted 335. Last week I deadlifted 315×5. I reached my goal of being the strongest I’ve ever been.
I’m proud of myself but I’m more proud of the guys that helped push me every week to get me to this point…a point I honestly didn’t think I was capable of so quickly. Keep in mind 6 weeks ago I could barely push up 225 on my bench and squatting 335 would not have ended well at all. The PSTS coach’s ability to push an individual the right way is incredible. PowerStrength has been proven time and time again…I am just another prime example. If you want to be a Lion, you must train like a Lion.
